Under the supervision of the Drain Commissioner, serves as deputy for that official and assists in the supervision of employees under the Drain Commissioner. Oversees the planning and operation of drain projects/maintenance and the enforcement of all relevant laws and regulations under Act 40 of the Public Acts of 1956.

Engineering Technician

The Monroe County Road Commission is currently seeking an Engineering Technician. An Engineering Technician administers all aspects of transportation permitting processes for the Road Commission. Accomplishes all office functions for residential driveway permitting, receives, reviews, and processes all other permitting issues for work in the road rights-of-ways directly or in conjunction with other engineering staff. Performs office technician project construction documentation record keeping and generates and/or assists with clerical duties for; correspondence, reports, forms, resolutions, traffic orders, easements, abandonments, contracts, agreements, etc. Assists with a variety of departmental scanning, filing, record keeping activities, and routine closing of files for completed projects. Starting wage $20.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on education and experience.

Minimum qualifications: Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is preferred, two (2) years related experience, MDOT Office Technician certification (should have or be obtained within one year of hire) and a valid driver’s license to operate vehicles in Michigan.  Other combinations of education and experience, which could provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job, may be considered.

To perform a variety of functions for the maintenance and restoration of roadways throughout Monroe County.  40 hours per week.  Starts at $15.00/hr.  Must possess a valid “Class A” CDL. Application for Class A CDL Position, E-mail completed application to EOE
